Children at heart who love comedic, poetic, theatric, yet at times serious storytelling alongside truly magical music, should prepare themselves for the surprising world of Ronley Teper.
An Adventure of FARTS (FUSED ARTS)
Ronley Teper was born in South Africa and grew up Toronto. She has been an active composer and member of the Toronto arts scene for over a decade. Ronley Teper’s Lipliners began as a monthly residency at the legendary Tranzac club in Toronto. Teper invited a rotating roster of some of Toronto’s finest musicians, animators and video artists to publicly improvise around her storytelling and songwriting styles that cycle through her many influences from folk, funk, jazz, cinematic, and pop musical sensibilities. This process has developed a body of work that listeners compare to artists like Tom Waits, Mary Margaret O’Hara, Bjork and Kate Bush.
“An Almost Childlike fascination for experimentation"
Steve Baylin, Ottawa Citizen.
“And the Juno for best alternate universe goes to....Ronley Teper. Brilliant. Fantastic"
Bob Wiseman (producer, composer, musician)
“Ronley. she's way cool, a brilliant performer, tunesmith, vocalist and pied piper, the spirit of musical adventure and nirvana in a nutshell. I rank her among the best anywhere."
Gary Topp Presents…
“Ronley is a superfreak...I really like her music and her overall vibe."
Jaymz Bee - Jazz FM
“Very few artists have the artistic fortitude displayed by Ronley. In fact, dare I say, no one rivals her style as it is all her own. A visionary with stories to tell and the ability to leave your jaw agape."
Derek Downham (producer, mulit-instrumentalist)
“If Joanna Newsom gave birth to Tom Waits' illegitimate daughter and then refused to breastfeed her, the girl might grow up sounding a lot like Toronto's Ronley Teper. When I first heard the buzz about Teper, people told me she was weird - good, but definitely weird. Imagine, if you will, Kate Bush in her youth in a more rootsy, acoustic setting. Pretty cool, actually."
“The One and Ronley. Canadian Indie-singer/songwriter Ronley Teper has a unique sound that defies comparison with anyone, just saying she's got some freaky stuff happening melodically and sings like a wild thing, doesn't really prepare you for what you are about to hear".
